Privacy policy
The Black Spade Society (“the studio”, “we”) operates this website from 300 N Appleton St, Appleton, WI 54911. This policy explains what we collect through the site, why, and where it goes.
What we collect
The site has no accounts and no tracking. The only personal information we collect is what you choose to send through the booking inquiry form:
- Your name, email address, and phone number.
- Details of the work you have in mind: placement, approximate size, style, preferred artist, availability, and your description.
- Your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Any reference photos or links you attach. Please only send images you have the right to share, and avoid photos that show other people or personal documents.
How we use it
We use inquiry details only to respond to you, plan a consultation, and prepare for an appointment. We do not sell or rent personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who handles it
- Web3Forms relays form submissions to our email. Submissions pass through their servers in transit and are delivered to the studio inbox. See Web3Forms’ privacy policy.
- Google hosts the studio’s email (Gmail), where inquiries are received and kept, and serves the typefaces this site uses (Google Fonts), which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers when the page loads.
- Links to Instagram, Facebook, and Google Maps take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It stores a single flag in your browser’s session storage so the opening title sequence plays once per visit; it is cleared when you close the tab and identifies nothing about you.
Retention
We keep inquiry emails for as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of work performed. If you would like your inquiry deleted, email us and we will remove it.
Your choices
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by writing to theblackspadesociety@gmail.com.
Age
The studio tattoos adults only. The site is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from minors; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this site. It is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, including:
- Every image of tattoo work carries a written description.
- All navigation, the booking form, the reference-photo uploader, and the menu work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link.
- Text meets minimum contrast ratios against the dark background, and the layout reflows to any screen width without sideways scrolling.
- The opening video has no sound, can be skipped at any time, and is not shown to visitors whose device requests reduced motion.
- Form fields are labelled, errors are announced to assistive technology, and nothing depends on colour alone.
If anything on the site is difficult for you to use, or you would rather book another way, email theblackspadesociety@gmail.com or message us on Instagram and we will help directly.
Terms of use
- Sending an inquiry does not create an appointment. Bookings are confirmed by the artist, and any deposit terms are set out at that time.
- You must be 18 or older with valid photo ID to be tattooed. No exceptions.
- Nothing on this site is medical advice. Follow the aftercare your artist gives you and consult a doctor about any health concern.
- The Black Spade Society name, spade crest, and all photographs of tattoo work on this site belong to the studio and its artists and may not be copied or reused without written permission.
- Reference images you send are used only to plan your piece. Please send only images you have the right to share.
- Studio-room rental terms are agreed separately in writing between the studio and the renter; nothing on this site is an offer to lease.
